Sanlúcar de Barrameda is famous for its food, a top reference of the Andalucian cuisine. Seafood (especially the “langostinos” or king prawns) and wines from the town enjoy a world wide reputation. Around the central square Plaza del Cabildo you find a variety of tapas bars (Casa Balbino is the most famous in the Cádiz region) and in the Bajo de Guia area you find the finest seafood restaurants of Andalucia.

But Sanlúcar is not only known for its food and environment… Below you find a selection of the many places of interest and activities:

Sanlúcar is known as “the happiest town in Spain’” due to the almost continuous ferias and festivities that go on during the year. The summer gets going with a big spring fair, the “Feria de Manzanilla”. A one week festivity with flamenco dance, Andalucian food and… manzanilla. Another main event is the town’s historical “Carreras de Caballos” (horse races) in August, held every year since 1845.
